QuickBrowse – $.99 in iTunes
QuickBrowse is a all-in-one ‘social web browser’ that accesses several mobile versions of popular websites. The interface is very straightforward and stylish. While having a small price tag of ninety-nine cents, it also weighs in at 0.3MB. The latest version (2.0) adds support for Meebo, Google Wave, and Twitter’s new mobile website.
The websites available are:
- Bebo
- deviantART
- Digg
- Flickr
- FriendFeed
- Gmail
- Google Wave
- Last.fm
- Meebo
- MySpace (THIS PLACE IS STILL AROUND?!)
- Orkut
- YouTube
Again, all websites go straight to the mobile version of the website chosen.
That’s basically all there is to this app. While looking nice and is easy to use, I have to give this app 2.5 stars. It is only a dollar (plus tax…), but is this really necessary? Most people would like to use Safari for mobile web browsing anyway, since they can view history, add new bookmarks, etc. It is a good idea, but I don’t see this really being worth anything.
offtopic
Just noticed that iTunes considers this application to be a game. “You must be at least 17 years old to download this game.” It then lists various reasons why:
- Infrequent/Mild Profanity or Crude Humor
- Infrequent/Mild Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug Use or References
- Infrequent/Mild Mature/Suggestive Themes
- Frequent/Intense Sexual Content or Nudity
