[Win] Jailbreak iOS 4 with sn0wbreeze

ih8sn0w has released sn0wbreeze 1.6.1 for Windows (PwnageTool for 4.0, sn0wbreeze’s Mac OS X equivalent, is available here). You can jailbreak the iPhone 3GS (old bootrom, not jailbroken with Spirit), iPhone 3G, and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC model). It creates a custom already jailbroken IPSW that you can restore to from within iTunes. Instructions and download links after the jump.

Basically, you give sn0wbreeze the OFFICIAL IPSW file for iOS 4 (NOT the GM), set some options, and let it create a custom, pre-jailbroken IPSW file for you. Then, you restore to that IPSW file in iTunes. Your 3GS must already be jailbroken and not already on iOS 4.

If you don’t know whether your iPhone 3GS is on the new bootrom or not, run f0recast. If you’re on an iPhone 3G or an iPod Touch 2G (without the MC at the beginning of your model number), then you’re good to go with sn0wbreeze or redsn0w.

You can also use redsn0w (iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 2G) for Mac & Windows, and it doesn’t require a restore. If you’re on Mac OS X, you can also use PwnageTool.

    Umm, do they HAVE to make a jailbreak for the MC iPod Touch? No. Like I've said before, these guys are using their own time and money into jailbreaking these things. The MC models are harder to jailbreak, thus taking more time to produce these tools.

    bryan..i did read the instructions..i keep getting errors when itunes restores..when u put it in the DFU mode.does the iphone screen have to say connect to itunes or does it have to be completely black?

    hello.. i have hacked my iphone bfr and now i did put it in recovery mode and then tried to restore using the ipsw created by sn0wbreeze but the screen is struck at preparing iphone to restore and my phone doesnt move frm recovery mode!!

    Yo brian.i got forecast.when i plugged in my phone.in the jailbreaking spot there is nothing there.when it says unlockable: it says NO. then it says Tethered:it says Maybe,depends if its refurbished.

    Okay not complaining I just need to know. Do you think they will have a jailbreak for MC models? Because on twitter I talked to
    Muscle nerd he said the final redsn0w will be about later this week and today is Sunday so…I'm wondering if the final version of redsn0w be able to jailbreak MC models. Stil not complaining.

    I'm already on a jailbroken 4.0 (with redsn0w), but it kinda effed up my itouch so I wanna try it again with Sn0wbreeze. Can Sn0wbreeze still jailbreak my thing if I'm already on a jailbroken 4.0 or do I have to do any pre-requisites such as restoring to an older firmware

    You should be able to just create your jailbroken IPSW with sn0wbreeze and restore to it in iTunes.

    I primarily do stuff with the iPhone 3G, so I probably be of that much assistance.

    No. Once you’re on 4.0, there’s nothing you can do. You should’ve stayed on 3.1.3 and done your homework.

    Is your iPhone already on iOS 4? Was it jailbroken before? New or old bootrom? There could be LOTS of problems.

    You can’t jailbreak a 3GS unless it’s already jailbroken and NOT on iOS 4.
