Available for $29.99 directly from Macally, the METROIMDP4 TPU case for the Apple iPhone 4 is a simple clear TPU case with a mirrored effect on the back. There is one MAJOR flaw with this case that makes it unusable. Continue reading to find out what’s wrong with this case.
Packaging
As with all Macally products, the packaging is simple, with a clear plastic outside. All you get in the package is the case, a fake iPhone 4 that folds out and reveals some of Macally’s other products, and a “Sticky Swipe”, which lets you clean your iPhone 4.
Installation
TPU cases, for the most part, have a somewhat “average” installation. Take the bottom of your iPhone 4 and slide it into the bottom of the case. Push the top of your iPhone 4 into the top of the case, and you’re done. You may need to “massage” the case so that it fits perfectly on your iPhone 4.
Port/Button coverage
The top of the case has a cutout for the 3.5mm headphone jack as well as the noise cancelation microphone. The power button is covered. HERE’S WHERE THE PROBLEM COMES INTO PLAY. The power button cover is constantly pushing down on the power button. With that being said, this case is unusable. After you put the case on your iPhone 4, your phone will want you to turn itself off because the power button is being held down. This is a big no-no. Moving on, the silent switch has a nice cutout. The volume up and down buttons are both covered up. The bottom has one large cutout for the microphone, 30-pin dock connector, and speaker. The back of the case has a nice cutout for the camera and the flash. This case does not have any flash problems.
Design/Material
The case is made of a clear TPU material with some pieces of mirrored sheets on the back to give it a nice mirrored finish. You get a small lay-on-the-table design.
Protection
Your get moderate protection with this case. The back is completely covered. You get protection of all of the edges of your phone.
Pros
- Nice clear TPU case with the mirrored finish on the back
- Nice sized cutouts
- Decent design
Cons
- Power button constantly being pushed down
- Price
Final thoughts
With there being only 2 cons, this case isn’t half bad. It has a good design as well as a good amount of protection. If it wasn’t for the first con, this case would easily get a 4/5.
