Apple has announced their new service “Find My Friends”! This app would allow users to search for their friends that has allowed to share their location with you.

According to Apple’s latest keynote, this app would allow users to invite friends and share for a limited time only.  For example, you want to know how to get to a baseball game your friend is at, all you got to do is simply ask your friend to share his location with you (via the app), and on your iDevice, there would be directions that would guide you on how to get there.  Find My Friends will be available on October 12th.

Find My Friends is a new app available as a free download from the App Store that lets you easily share your location with people who are important to you. Friends and family appear on a map so you can quickly see where they are. Find My Friends also lets you temporarily share your location with a group of friends, whether it’s for a couple of hours for a dinner or a couple of days on a camping trip; when the time is up, the sharing ends. With Find My Friends, you get a notification every time you get a new friend request and if you give them permission, they can see your location. With a simple tap you can hide your location. Parental controls help you manage how your child uses Find My Friends.

Friends for a day.

With Find My Friends, you can choose to temporarily share your location with a group of people. It’s perfect for a weekend camping trip or a day at the amusement park. Share locations for a couple of hours — or a couple of weeks. When the trip is over, the sharing ends, too.

Seek (and hide).

With Find My Friends, you make the rules. A notification appears when you get a new friend request. If you give your friends permission, they can see you. Want a little privacy? Go off the grid with the flip of a switch.

Keep them safe.

Parental restrictions help you manage how your children use Find My Friends. Controls are quick and easy to set up and require a password to override your settings. That way your kids can have fun — and you can make sure they stay safe. – Apple
